Community Update No. 17

February 22, 2026

Dear Perkins-sur-le-Lac neighbours,

Show your support: we’re 82% of the way to protecting 673 chemin Blackburn!

Dear Neighbours,

We have some incredibly exciting news to share regarding our community’s effort to acquire and protect the 17.5-acre lot at 673 chemin Blackburn.

As many of you know, our group submitted two major funding applications to help bridge the gap for this purchase. We are thrilled to announce that we have officially received a financial contribution totalling $92,000 from the Echo Foundation and the Fondation de la faune du Québec (FFQ), which includes a contribution from the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC).

What does this mean for our project?

  1. Professional Validation: Our project has been vetted by leading conservation organizations and recognized as a high-priority, worthwhile endeavor for the region’s biodiversity. These organizations recognize that this acquisition is particularly special because it marks our very first land purchase. By securing 673 chemin Blackburn, we aren't just saving one lot; we are creating a permanent anchor for our conservation efforts going forward.

  2. The Finish Line is in Sight: With these grants and the community pledges received so far, we have now secured 82% of the total funds required.

The Final Push - We need $46,000 before April 1st, 2026, to close the deal.

We are so close to protecting this land in perpetuity, but we need one final surge of support to cross the finish line. Here is how you can help:

  • For those who have already pledged: Thank you for your incredible generosity. Your support enabled us to get $92,000 in grants from these conservation organizations. Given how close we are, would you consider a modest increase to your pledge to help us cover this final $46k? You will be receiving an email shortly about the process of turning your pledges into donations.

  • For those still considering a pledge: Now is the moment! Your contribution—no matter the size—could be the piece that secures this land for future generations. Every donation will receive a tax receipt.

  • Spread the Word: Please talk to your PSLL neighbours. If everyone in PSLL joins in, we can close this $46,000 gap quickly and move to the final purchase.

How to make or discuss your pledge or donation

If you would like to make a new pledge, increase your current one, or simply have questions about the process, please email CPSLLor reach out to our Treasurer Bruce McMullen (416-557-6099; bruce@analytixlive.com) directly.

If you would like to make a donation of under $1,000, please go to our website donation page and donate through CanadaHelps. For donations over $1,000, please contact us to discuss your options. All donations received by our charity in the next five weeks will go directly towards the purchase of this property.

If you are supportive of land conservation and access to trails in Perkins-sur-le-Lac, this is the best opportunity to show your support!

With gratitude,

Conservation Perkins-sur-le-Lac
